Pray for rain. The grass is matted in 13 foot and less in many parts of the lake. Some bass can be caught early on frog baits around the matted grass. I have not found any dropping into the grass bite as of yet. There are a couple of areas that are producing some quaility bass on topwater baits. There is a lot of schooling going on the main lake and Brewer Point area. Keeper size fish are few and far between. Good luck and again pray for rain....

WayPoint Guide Service and WayPoint Markers . com

Stillhouse Hollow Lake report 5/23/2011

Stillhouse is on a come back. The grass is looking great and spreading out over all the same locations it had back in 2006. The big Bass are not near as common but good fish are being caught every day in the grass or on the edges. Best technique seems to be light Texas rig, small C-rig or shakey head jigs in or on the edges of the grass. Watermelon seed baits work well in all types of baits. There are some good fish also being caught in 20 to 30 foot in the timber on Texas rigs. As of now, I have not been able to catch the bass by droping into the thicker grass, but it will not be long before this technique is a good patern on Stillhouse Lake.

WayPoint Guide Service and WayPoint Markers . com

Stillhouse Hollow fishing report 04/26/2010
Lake level is 622.5 one half foot over normal, surface temps from 68 to 71. The water temp is 49 on the main lake, and found 52 in the backs of some creeks up river. Fishing remains tuff on our little pond. Most fish being caugh are coming up river flipping around the laydowns. With the warmer weather this week I expect to see the main lake fishing improve. I will be looking for prespawn fish moving up into 20 foot of points near spawning areas. There has been lots of schooling fish, but mostly on the small size. I have found the better bass are moving deeper for the most part. Today we caught 5 bass between 3 and 3 pounds in 30 to 40 foot deep. Carolina rig small baits seemed to be the best. The first Saturday tournament held yesterday seen a wining weight of 6 pounds. I can only expect with the cooler weather coming fishing will get better. There are several areas with good patches of grass, but the big fish have not discovered that it is there yet. They will find it and stay there once the cooler water comes in. You can also find schooling fish east of the island on the large flat near the south shore bluff that is on the east end of the flat. Again, these fish are mostly small. The larger fish are coming on Carolina Rigs on Watermelon Seed colored baits. The large baits, like a 10" Power Worm are catching big fish but the bite is slow. The fish are relating to rock and brush on drops in 20 to 30 foot deep near or droping into the 50 to 80 foot creek channels. Most of the larger sacks of fish are being caught between the island to uplake towards the bridge. Looking for the fishing to pick up as the grass is beginning to come in stronger every day. Once the fish discover this grass is coming back, they will concentrate in the grass and will improve the fishing for those anglers that are able to locate these grass patches under water in 13 to 20 foot deep. I was catching big fish on creek channel drops from 23 to 35 foot deep using a Carolina rig. On the 5Th of June my clients and I put together a 46 pound (5) fish stringer. My clients and I on the 6Th of June followed this up with a 43 pound stringer. The following week we managed a 39 pound stringer. This was the good news, the bad news is these deep fish have moved for the most part, there is a lot of schooling fish and some quality fish mixed in with the schoolers. As for the grass there are areas that have the grass coming back, spotty at best but grass none the less. I have pulled up 8 foot strands of grass and I am looking forward to continued growth this summer and the fish will then move back into this grass. As for now fishing i just plain tuff of Stillhouse again. There are a few spots holding fish in 16 to 20 foot up towards the bridge. The deep main lake fish can still be caught but do not expect to load the boat, you just need to stick to the points and channel bends and slow down. I am catch fish in 10 to 20 foot of water on C-rigs, T-rigs and sinko's. Focus on points near spawning flats to find the bigger fish. Good colors have been Watermellon red and Watermellon seed. Smaller baits have been producing better than the bigger baits for me. If you would like a trip to learn structure fishing, it is becoming a good time to book your trip. Only bright spot is when you find them they are stacked up. Today 33 boat tournament with winning weight 28.29 with second place drooping to 17.05 and only 8 limits weighed in. I am catching some fish on C-rig in 15 to 20 foot on structure, points and road beds. I am also catching fish up to 4 pounds on football watermelon seed jigs tipped with Paca Craws in 3 to 6 foot rock areas.
Water temp is 51 in most areas, I did see 54 on some north shore coves. I look for fishing to remain spotty at best for the next couple of weeks. The great jigging spoon bit we had last year just did not develop this year as it did last year. There are some spoon fish coming in 30 to 50 foot, look for bait fish and whites near the creek channel and on the drops. You may find a school of quality bass mixed in with the white bass on a jigging spoon, best depth for me has been between 45 and 25. This is spotty at best and remember if your sonar does not show the presents of fish you are probably wasting time. There are a lot of smaller fish keeper to 3 pounds in 7 to 20 foot that will bit a C-rig, stay close to the drops. There also have been some fish coming on 3/4 ounce football jigs in the same depths and areas. The trap bite and crank bait bite should soon start up, on the warmer days the big fish will move up in the trees and suspend and also along the shollow banks. Last week I had 9 keepers up to 5 pounds, most of the fish came on a jigging spoon in 35+ feet deep. I did manage 4 keepers up to 3 pounds on a C-rig. My next trip was much tuffer, had many small fish 12 inches but only managed 2 keepers on on the C-rig and a four pounder on the jigging spoon. I am sure there is a better pattern working out there but I have yet to find it. I feel a swim bait or a deep crankbait may be a better pattern, I will find out this week.

WayPointGuideService.com . com
WayPointMarkers.com

Stillhouse Hollow fishing report 10/08/08

Stillhouse has been off the last week or so, the only bright spot is the schoolers. Fish up to 4 pounds are schooling all day with the best activity around 10 in the morning to noon. East of the island is an area with lots of schoolers now. The deep water fishing has been spotty at best. I had a 8.5, 7.5 and a 7 in the first Saturday of the month tournament this past weekend in 25 to 32 foot deep. On Sunday we spent all day searching for deep fish and only managed 9 keepers with one 6 pounder and the rest were 2 to 3 pounds. The grass is beginning to grow on the east end of the road around the cedar trees with schoolers in the area and fish coming on cranks in this area. The water system which takes water from Stillhouse to Georgetown Lake was used on the Second of October and the lake dropped 1 foot in one hour.

WayPoint Guide Service and WayPoint Markers . com

Stillhouse Hollow fishing report 9/23/08

The early morning bite in 3 foot and less on frog baits with bass up to 6 pounds. The fish are scattered between 42 foot deep to 20 foot. My best success has been on a one ounce spoon in 32 to 42 foot of water with fish up to 8 pounds and several 3 to 5 pound fish. The grass is starting in the exact way it did in 1997, mostly skunk weed and spinney pond weed growing in some areas of the lake. There is some hydrilla mixed in with these other grasses. The hydrilla will eventually overtake these other grasses.

http://www.waypointguideservice.com
http://www.waypointmarkers.com

Stillhouse Hollow fishing report 9/6/08

Fishing Stillhouse Hollow this week has been good for black bass and white bass. If you target white bass in 20 to 35 feet of water you will catch a good limit of black bass up to 8 pounds on one ounce chrome/white jigging spoons. Carolina rig fishing has slowed down, mostly due to cooler nights and the fish are schooling alot. You can catch numbers of bass on top waters when you are around the schoolers. I like a clear Zara Spook on sunny days and a Yellow Magic Popper. Watermelon seed Flukes and Albino Shad work good early and late.

You can view my web sites at: WayPointGuideService.com and WayPointMarkers.com

Stillhouse Hollow fishing report 8/24/08

Bass fishing on Stillhouse has been good last week fishing shallow with the rains and cloud cover. Fish up to 5 pounds have been caught on a variety of baits, traps, swim baits, t-rigs and flukes to name a few. Structure fishing has been very good when you locate a spot with fish on it, fish are stacked up on the structure spots with fish up to 10 pounds common, several 5 to 8 pound fish are being caught on these structure spots. 20 to 35 feet deep is were to look for these schools of fish on structure. C-Rig with any watermelon seed bait, jigging spoons and swim baits are all working well on the structure spots. This lake never stops amazing me on just how many off shore locations there are on this small body of water, if you are willing to spend some time graphing and using your buoy markers you will find the mother load off shore on this lake. Good luck fishing Stillhouse and remember this is a small lake, respect the other guy's locations, there are plenty of spots that have yet to be discovered.
